Pure Mathematics (MATH012)

This component is designed for secondary school graduates who are entitled to pursue their studies in engineering, computer sciences, information system (Information technology department). Students are entitled to enroll in this set only after successfully passing Test 1(Basic Maths).

Course Description

The topics covered in this course deals with the functions and its graph, the inverse relationship between exponential and logarithmic function and their use in solving related problem. It will enhance the knowledge of trigonometric and circular functions with an appropriate use of the software to interpret equations and graphs. This course also helps the students to be familiar with basic concepts of descriptive statistics and probability, counting techniques.

This component is designed for secondary school graduates, who want to pursue their higher studies in Business, Linguistic etc. Students are entitled to enroll in this set only after successfully passing Test-1 (Basic Mathematics MATH011).

The course provides the knowledge of linear equation in two variables, sketching the graph, solving the life problems involving linear, quadratic and exponential functions graphically and algebraically. It also details the inverse relationship between exponential and logarithmic function and their use in solving related problem. The course helps the students to gain the knowledge in simple and compound interest problems and basic concepts of descriptive statistics with a little use of computer.

Intermediate second language writers learn key vocabulary and grammar related to content area themes.  Then they complete essays based on academic assignments, and learn to write with content.

This course aims at developing the student’s ability to interact orally in English with an emphasis on accuracy and fluency. Authentic materials in terms of language forms, functions, situations, and topics are used. Students are guided to practise various modes of interaction and build up their own strategies to achieve effective communication.

This course enables graduate students to conduct a research study on the area of English language and literature. They may utilize different research methods according to the nature of the study. They should demonstrate the necessary skills for logical arguments and well-developed analysis and synthesis supported with references using APA/MLA guidelines. At the end of the course, a well-organized paper should be presented and submitted as a graduate project.

The course is an elective that exposes students to American literature during the 20th century. Students will read, analyze and critically comment on various genres of literary texts extracted from a rich array of modern American literary works. Students will also link between 20th c American literary productions and the historical aspects that have shaped American modern literature. 

The course studies the development and the changes that have occurred in American literature from the colonial period to the present. It concentrates on the philosophical, social, and political issues that shaped the styles and ideas of various American writers as Franklin, Poe, Emerson, Dickenson, Twain, O’Neil, Hemingway Faulkner, Ezra Pound ect…. It focuses on poetry, drama, essay, and the study of American short stories.



This course deals with the sounds of English and examines the nature of the rules governing the sound system of English. It introduces the study of the physiology of speech production and phonetic transcription through practical exercises. It also helps students to use technical terms in describing speech and talking about phonological literature.

This course introduces students to the main elements of drama and dramatic terminology, a short history of English drama and a critical study of William Shakespeare’s the Merchant of Venice. The course aims at offering a literary and technical study of the play with focus on its theatrical, cultural and historical context.

The course offers the students an opportunity to explore multiple literary devices and to enhance their analytical ability through linking form to content. This course examines business ethics from both an organizational, managerial and employees perspective, by examining issues and scenarios that relate directly to the work environment, students will examine the goal of business organizations, as well as individual conduct in business settings. Ethical reasoning and ethical leadership will guide debate on topics such as: creating an ethical climate in an organization, honesty, affirmative action, environmental ethics, ethics in advertising and sales, financial management, personnel management, corporate social responsibility and the role of character and virtues in effective leadership

This course provides students with the insight into the services, techniques, goals and objectives, management styles, internal problems and risks of financial institutions, and the markets in which they operate. This course accomplishes this insight by (1) profiling the Financial, operating, and organizational characteristics of each type of financial institution, and (2) examining the services offered by these institutions to the public. Also it will cover other wide range of Topics related to Hedging and Financial Derivatives, and to help students make sense of the financial activity that is so widely and prominently reported in the media, and help them to understand events as they happen in the real world.
